This is a pastel workshop and beginners are encouraged to attend. There is also much in this workshop for the more advanced pastel painter! The cost of the workshop is $200 and a deposit is required to hold a spot. Contact and registration should be through the association listed above. A supply list will be given upon registration. I'll be glad to answer questions if you wish to contact me by e-mail - marshasavageart@yahoo.com. Arrival is between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. -- the earlier the better to get your supplies into the workshop room and set up. We will paint until 4:00 p.m. with a break for lunch of about 1 hour. We will be painting from photographs and still life set ups -- and I will emphasize how to paint from photographs as if you were painting outdoors. Each student receives individual instruction and constructive analysis. The class is limited to 12 students, so sign up soon to reserve your spot. Emphasis is on composition and value, with temperature and color a strong second! There will be added emphasis on quickly creating a thumbnail sketch to work from, blocking in the darks and lights, finding the colors and developing the painting -- but, you will not necessarily finish each painting. This class is not just about painting a pretty painting from start to finish -- but the principles associated with design, starting the painting and working with pastels and paper. |
